Hey #PolishedPeople, It's your girl ThePolishedLady checking in to let you know I am doing well. Last Thursday, My cousin B.Lee invited me to George Washington High School to speak to his B.Legendary program students. It was the first meeting of the year and I am not going to lie it's been a minute since I spoke to high school students so I was nervous.
Luckily, I wasn't there alone and my old college pal, Anthony Sims Jr. was there to present first and talk about his journey and his upcoming event, #NaptownRumble. I even got to catch up with him and he gave me some skating advice when purchasing roller skates. Sims said " There's four parts to skates: boot, truck, bearings and wheels."
As I opened up my presentation with and ice breaker to make me and the kiddos feel more relaxed and more awaken: ( See the video below)
I began to share how I became the owner of my own Media Company and how I utilized Personal Branding to create opportunities for me to Interview those A-list celebrities we all see on tv. On my six slide presentation I began to see I have come such a long way. From working in the Promotions Department at Radio One to now owning and operating my business full time.
My favorite piece of advice that I offered the youth that day was asking them questions about the type of legacy they want to known for and what do people say about you when your not in the room? I shared that anything you post on the Internet is permenant and be mindful of what you are posting because you can miss out on opportunities trying to have a moment of fun.
I could tell my ending slide was the most popular because they could see who I have interviewed like, G Herbo, Nia Long, 19keys, and Maiya the Don. Definitely want to go back and check in with them later in the school year. Well thank you for letting me share and I will talk to you next time.
Love and Light,
-ThePolishedLady
