Saturday morning, I started my day off at University of Indianapolis for the "Girls Professional Development Day' hosted by G.I.T. , Leading Ladies and Ladies Under Construction. When Keisha Howard reached to me about interview some of the young ladies that would be attending I instantly said yes. So many community leaders poured into me when I was younger and you have to give back when you can.
When I got there, I immediately scanned the room to see the energy. I introduced myself and asked how many girls would be willingly to do an TikTok dance with me. About six girls eagerly ran up and we did three practices and then some more girls joined in. I loved that. I also asked them if they have ever been interviewed before and I talked to them about my journey as a media specialist, host and influencer. Shared with them about all the public speaking influencing requires & about how practice makes you better and better at your craft.
I did some interviews with the girls and asked them what they were most excited for today and did they have an affirmation or a goal they wanted to achieve. Most girls told me they were excited about learning how to be a business woman and hanging out with their friends.
In the room, I shared space with women leaders like Regina Warren, Samantha Douglas, Shar'ron Mason and Bumpy Johnson. I couldn't stay to catch the rest of the day and the keynote speech with my good sis Whitley Yates but I know she inspired the girls were it counts.
